Ryan Garcia shocked the fans Saturday night in Brooklyn as he dropped Devin Haney 3 times over the course of 12 rounds of Boxing. Despite weeks of what appeared to be a struggle with mental health playing out over social media, Ryan Garcia put all the distractions aside fight night.
After missing weight by 3.2 pounds and awarding an additional 1.5 million dollars to team Devin Haney as a result, most boxing critics counted Ryan Garcia out in terms of being prepared to face one of the most technical boxers in the sport in Devin Haney.
While Haney is known for his jab, Garcia was able to pick and select the moments where he engaged the fight and hurt Haney several times with his looping left hook and straight rights. Haney for all his effort deserves huge acknowledgment for never quitting in a bout that could have been stopped multiple times.
MMA Grand Slam Champion Cris Cyborg had this to say about the fight, “Wow, very exciting. I pray for both Devin and Ryan hoping that they are good mentally and physically following such a performance by both fighters for the crowd.”
Cyborg returns to the sport of Professional Boxing Saturday April 27th in Green Bay Wisconsin as the main event of Green Bay Fight Night. Fans of Bellator MMA, UFC, Invicta FC, Strikeforce can watch the champion compete in professional boxing before her anticipated PFL showdown with Larissa Pacheco. Get your Boxing tickets here.
