
The first Female Featherweight Champion in Bellator MMA was Julia Budd, a veteran in the sport who defended the belt 4x in the World’s deepest 145lbs featherweight division before losing the Championship to Cris Cyborg at Bellator LA in early 2020.
A pioneer in Canadian Combat Sports, Julia Budd sat down with James Lynch on this weeks The Catch Up as MMA Grand Slam Champion Cris Cyborg is currently traveling in Brazil and unable to Co-Host the weekly program.
Julia Budd explained that she would be open to returning to professional boxing after the recent highlights the sport has made with premier names like Claressa Shields and Katie Taylor brining the sport of Women’s boxing to the forefront. A Champion Kickboxer before turning into MMA, Budd told Lynch that earlier in her career to stay active she participated in professional boxing bouts and would be interested in doing so again if the opportunity presented itself. Julia Budd is one of the top Female Athletes in Combat Sports having won Kickboxing and MMA World Championships for some of the sports premier organizations. What do you think Cyborg Nation?
