GGG tied history last night when Gennady Glolovkin was able to defend his 160lbs world title for a record tying 20th time. The other fighter to match that number was legend Bernard Hopkins. Gennady who was hoping to rematch Canelo Alvarez in Las Vegas, had that bout postponed when Canelo tested positive for banned substances and was suspended by the NSAC.
GGG made easy work of an outmatched Vanes Martirosyan sending him to the floor with a quick KO in the 2nd round of a scheduled 12 round fight. For the 2 rounds worth of work GGG took home a million dollars, which was a significant pay cut from what he would have made against Canelo on PPV.–the event against Vanes was moved to HBO Boxing on the network and was not shown on PPV. Promoter Tom Loeffler brought in Martirosyan to make this fight possible. Vanes pocketed 225,000$ in disclosed earnings for his short notice performance.

Also picking up a win on the night was #1 P4P female fighter in boxing Cecilia Braekhus, who won a close decision against Kali Reis. Braekhus who has unified all of the major belts in her weight class could be a possible opponent for Cris Cyborg who will be making her boxing debut next year after having applied and been approved for her professional boxing license in the state of California.
