Already recognized as the sport of Mixed Martial Art’s only Grand Slam Champion by becoming the only fighter in the sport to win every significant world championship, Cris Cyborg looked to again leave her mark on history at Bellator 249 becoming the only champion to defend every belt they have won at least once. While Eddie Alvarez was able to capture gold in Bellator MMA and the UFC, the champion was unable to defend his gold against Conor McGregor. Cyborg who successfully defended her UFC belt against Holly Holm and Yana Kunitskaya before leaving the organization after a victory over Felicia Spencer over the inability for Dana White to book the rematch. Signing with Bellator MMA Cyborg faced Julia Budd in her first fight, a Champion who had not lost in 8 years of Featherweight competition–after picking up the victory earlier this year, Cyborg was set to defend her Bellator MMA championship for the first time at Bellator 249 against 2x World Boxing Champion Arlene Blencowe.
