
BIG NEWS in the world of women’s boxing with the release of the details surrounding the May 5th, Cinco De Mayo fight card of Gennady Golovkin Vs Vanes Martirosyan and that is that the undercard will feature a super fight with Cecilia Braekhus taking on Kalie Reis for her undisputed women’s title.

Braekhus who is undefeated currently owns the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBF world titles, becoming the first women to ever unify the weight class, and only the 4th fighter male or female to do it in the history of boxing. The full fight card will be shown on HBO and will be live from Carson City California for Cinco De Mayo.
The fight will be Braekhus first fight in the USA, and while it is on HBO there have been rumors of her heading to Showtime for a premier event to showcase women’s boxing. Layla McCarter has recently stated that if Cecilia Braekhus doesn’t come to terms she is willing to go up in weight to face Claressa Shields and make a big fight happen. Cyborg who is currently signed to the UFC applied for a boxing license and was granted one in the state of California last year, and has teased a potential bout between Cecilia Braekhus or Layla McCarter as her debut into the ring.
