UFC 226 currently has Stipe Miocic Vs Daniel Cormier as the main event, and if Amanda Nunes can beat Raquel Pennington in Rio, a bout between her and perennial champion Cris Cyborg has been rumored all year.
Fans can now add Ultimate Fighter season 26 winner Nicco Montano to the list of fighters hoping to fight on the stacked UFC International Fight Week event in July. Montano won the initial World Title by defeating Roxanne Modaferri to win the belt, however ever since that win has been battling a bad case of turf toe.
Speaking with New Mexico radio KRQE Montano had this to say, “It’s my ultimate goal to come back into fighting, you know to be here. I’ve got to really pay attention to my foot, a lot ofttimes as fighters or as athletes you’re like, ‘Oh you’re sore” but that’s like, that’s a good sore, you can push it another couple days, but with this, it’s like if I”m sore them I’m out for two weeks, I really have to watch it. I ran last week for the first time in like three months. So, it’s exciting, small steps. There was a time when I was like, I don’t know if I will be able to fight again, you know, how many fights do I have left in me? The reality of it is, I have to be back in the cage soon, I’m shooting for this summer. I’m really hoping to get on that Vegas card.”
Cyborg who recently said she plans on bringing Valentina Shevchenko into camp if she fights Amanda Nunes, could really benefit from Valentina preparing for fight the same day. What do you think Cyborg nation does UFC 226 look to be the most stacked event of 2018?
