I want to thank Mike Kogan for his work and effort in helping promote my recent fight in Riyadh Saudi Arabia. If it wasn’t for him I don’t know if I fight for my 5th world championships and get my 17th championships victory.
During the leadup to this fight I was dealing with a family medical emergency in addition to my own medical treatment that required emergency surgery during training camp. Kogan and the PFL team went out of their way to accommodate my situation to ensure I was able to put the best version of myself inside of the cage on fight night.
Having never visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and being the first Female Co Main event in the history of the country– I found myself dealing with new feelings of anxiety that were completely unrelated to the actual fight. Kogan was dedicated to ensuring I felt comfortable and supported by the @PFLMMA during my time in Saudi Arabia and the overall experience was something I will remember for the rest of my life.
Discovering the culture, the heritage, and the life of Riyadh gave me the opportunity to make some incredible memories and lifelong friends. I think it will be years before I really appreciate the magnitude of my World Title fight against Larissa Pacheco and the momentum caused by bringing such an event for women in the region to witness.
Each time I step into the cage and compete I give a part of myself to the fans, a part of myself that I leave in the arena, never to get back. I felt empowered leaving the arena witnessing a crowd full of female fans in attendance, knowing that progress is being made by performances like the one Pacheco and myself had just given to the crowd. It was an honor to be the first female World Championship fight in the Middle East and I hope fights like this continue to create opportunities for other female athletes in the region to live out their own dreams of greatness. @pflmena is creating something special and it’s a privilege to have an opportunity to continue pioneering the sport after 19 years and creating opportunities for other women to eventually accomplish even more than I have. With 2 more fights remaining on my legacy tour I feel like I am more motivated than ever, my career is near an end but I can see the sport is healthy with a new generation of female warriors ready to lead the sport.
