According to reports by Brazilian Media outlet Combate The UFC is looking to match Bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes against number 5 ranked Irene Aldana at a UFC 285 PPV to be held on March 4th insidee the Tmobile arena. The main event of that fight card is scheduled to be Jon Jones Vs Cyrile Gane. Nunes who has 5 defeats in her career is the current UFC double champ at Bantamweight and Featherweight even though she has not defended the Featherweight division since March of 2021 when she faced former Invicta FC Champion Megan Anderson at UFC 259
Despite going 1-1 against Julianna Pena the champ will not give the Bantamweight #1 contender another matchup even though Julianna Pena gave Nunes that immediate opportunity at vindication only 6 months following her submission victory. Nunes who has lost to Juliana Pena and Cat Zingano while in the UFC will be facing the #5 ranked Bantamweight in the division Irene Aldana.
Aldana has won 2 fights in-a-row including former Featherweight title contender Yana Kunitskaya and former TUF 145lbs winner Macy Chiasson however has losses to both Holly Holm and Raquel Pennington in addition to PFL champion Larissa Pachecho. The three other defeats in her career include former Featherweight contender Tonya Evinger, and UFC vets Leslie Smith and Katlyn Chookagian.
Fans have been wanting to see Amanda Nunes rematch Cris Cyborg who has gone undefeated since the winning 6 MMA bouts and 2 professional boxing fights almost 5 years after that setback. For Nunes she has revenged the Juliana Pena loss, which was by way of tapout however she still has losses to Ana India, Sarah Dalelio, Alexis Davis, and Cat Zingano on her resume which make it hard to place her as the GOAT in Strikeforce, or the Invicta FC promotions, however her two UFC losses to Cat Zingano and Juliana Pena are often overlooked.
