The PFL debut for Road to Dubai will proceed with a different Co Main event after news of Vadim Nemkov’s refusal to fight Corey Anderson started to appear online. With reports on MMAfighting.Com a PFL official confirmed that the bout will no longer take place. While Nemkov was booked to fight 2022 Heavyweight champion Ante Delija the Croation opponent withdrew from the event.
Taking place ont he 25th of January at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai the event will showcase a main event of Usman Nurmagomedov against Irish standout Paul Hughes. Hughes picked up a split decision win over AJ McKee his last time out.
Anderson went to Social Media to blame Nemkov for the removal saying her heard from PFL and Bellator saying “Vadim refuses to fight you,” Nemkov and Corey Anderson have fought twice with a million dollar Grand Prix final in 2022 ending with an accidental head butt which resulted in a No Contents. Nemkov then took a 5 round decision at Bellator 288 with this final rematch suppose to take place inside of the -265pounds heavyweight division.
No new Co Main event has been announced for the fight card. Cyborg who defeated Larissa Pacheco to win her 5th World Championship had asked inside the cage to fight in Dubai, however it appears that she will now be taking a boxing fight with an early 2nd quarter return to the PFL MMA Cage and a defense of her Bellator MMA Championship against Sara Collins of Australia.
