Paul Hughes will be making his return to the Professional Fighters League and despite the popularity of his bout with Usman Nurmagomedov it does not appear like the immediate rematch is the plans. Hughes was announced as the Main Event of the PFL’s return to Belfast Ireland as the hard hitting Irish striker will take on one of the highest regarded brazilian strikers in mixed martial arts; Bruno Miranda.
Miranda who is an accomplished Muay Thai fighter living in Thailand was officially announced as the opponent for Paul Hughes return to Belfast May 10th as he headlines the SSE Arena. The card will also feature the PFL Europe tournament matchups wich will result in one of the fighters being awarded a 100,000$ cash prize after winning three fights. Full PFL Europe brackets will be announced later.
Hughes picked up a split decision win over AJ Mckee back in Feb and built on that momentum with another competitive fight against Usman Nurmagomedov however the mathcup against Bruno Miranda could be a risky fight. Miranda is coming off his own split decision win over Bellator MMA star Patricky Freire and with a 17-5 record seems to be entering the prime of his career. Do you think Paul Hughes made a smart choice fighting such a clean striker as Bruno Miranda?
