The PFL continues to establish themselves as the leading mixed martial arts promotion in the middle east. After back-2-back historic events in Riyadh Saudi Arabia today the Professional Fighters League announced a partnership with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and the Dubai Sports Council to bring the PFL to Dubai and help create the location as a Global Hub for MMA.
Signing a multi year partnership with the PFL the promotion will now stage annual global events dubbed “Road to Dubai” and are going to help develop future UAE champion fighters. The first Champions Series World Title event was announced as taking place January 25th and will feature Dagestan’s Usman Nurmagomedov against Irish contender Paul Hughes who most recently defeated AJ Mckee on the PFL Super Fight PPV. The event is scheduled to take place at the newly opened Coca-Cola Arena.
Cyborg who fought in the Middle East for the first time this past October when she won her 5th MMA World Championship in Riyadh Saudi Arabia had this to say about the partnership, “I am hopeful one of my final 2 stops on the legacy tour can be in Dubai. Dubai is a marquee destination for the best of MMA and I love the chance it gives me to pioneer the sport for other female athletes in the region.”
Do you think Cris Cyborg will have a fight in Dubai as part of one of the Road to Dubai Championship series fights? With undefeated Sara Collins, Aspen Ladd, Leah McCourt, and others waiting for their opportunity to face the MMA Super Grand Slam Champion it’s a real possibility.
