Khabib Nurmagomedov asks president Putin to save alleged Mobster friend from prison after UFC win

Khabib Nurmagomedov won the UFC Lightweight Championship at UFC 223 after a week that saw his opponent replaced more times than any fighter would like.  First scheduled to face Tony Ferguson a late injury replaced him with Max Holloway, who was unable to make weight safely, and was eventually replaced with Raging Al, after a bit of a search for a suitable opponent.

Dominating 5 rounds of action, Khabib showed the world why he has been undefeated for over 10 years as a Mixed Martial Artist.  Head of the Eagle MMA Team, Khabib when given the microphone following his victory spent a few moment to show support for his friend Russian billionaire Ziyavudin Magomedov who was arrested earlier last week under suspicion of money embezzlement.

“He was very helpful to me and other athletes from Russia. Now he has problems, but I want him to know that we, the athletes, are praying for him. I believe that this situation will soon be resolved. I hope that our leader Vladimir Putin will help him. I want to congratulate him on the victory in the last election.”
