Katie Taylor is possibly the greatest sports person to ever come out of the country of Ireland.  The former Olympic Boxing Gold medalist is now 22-0 with her most recent victory over Argentina sensation Karen Elizabeth Carbajal in London this past weekend.  Fans who have been hoping she would make a return to Ireland before her professional boxing career comes to an end are hopeful the victory in London will lead to a possible return to Croke Park for early next year.  Winning easily on the cards Taylor collected rounds of 100-91, 99-91, 98-92 showing her true dominance as she retains the undisputed championship

In regards to who Katie Taylor could face at Croke Park next year, which is what promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom boxing has confirmed is the next step, there seems to be a few candidates which are the early lead.  Cris Cyborg has been mentioned as a potential cross over opponent which would take the MMA’s only Grand Slam Champion and have her face Katie Taylor in a catchweight bout as Taylor who has unified her division has cleaned the division of prospective candidates.  Cyborg who most recently won her first professional fight would have a significant amount of size on Taylor however the queen of Boxing has had over 200 professional and amateur combined fights making her the obvious favorite in a sport of boxing.

Other possibilities include Amanda Serrano who Taylor beat by a controversial split decision at Madison Square Garden.  Serrano who most recently returned to her natural weight class would have to be the athlete moving back up in weight for the second appearance, as Taylor has said she will not move down for the rematch.  While Serrano’s current management partner Jake Paul is being sued by Katie Taylor’s promoter Eddie Hearn it is unseen how those dynamics will affect the ability for this bout to be made.  While the first fight proved to be a box office hit, the rematch if it were to take place in Ireland would be a different dynamic for the Puerto Rican fans living in New York to attend.

Holly Holm has 1 remaining fight on her UFC contract and then will have the ability to become a Free Agent.  A former Boxing champion and UFC Champion she is the first crossover champion in two major sports.  Known for her striking, Holly Holm is a very large frame for 135lbs having faced Cris Cyborg and actually being rumored to be weighing more than her the night of the fight.  Holm who is the oldest of the prospective fights has a large social media presence and transitioning from the UFC would be a great boost to Katie Taylor’s profile who currently only has the  bout with Amanda Serrano as her only fight videos with 1 million plus views on it.

Fans are excited to see which direction Katie Taylor will take in her next fight, as it could have implications on being a HUGE fight for female boxing.
