The fall from grace continues for former 2 division UFC Champion Conor McGregor after being found guilty of sexual assault in a civil lawsuit in Ireland.
The Jury of his own peers returned a guilty verdict in Dublin stating that Conor McGregor Sexually assaulted female Nikita Hand in December of 2018. Hand who filed a civil suit in early 2021 alleged that while she was intoxicated that Conor McGregor and another man named James Lawrence had sex with her without being given consent. Full Criminal charges were not brought forward.
According to the Irish Mirror the jury gave a guilty verdict that included damages amounting to around 250,000 Euros and that the Jury returned with their decision in a little over six hours. The Jury determined that Lawrence did not assault Hand. Hand’s lawyer said during the trial that McGregor and Lawrence attempted to make a combined effort to have Lawrence get the blame, rather than McGregor.
McGregor who has four childen with his wife Dee Devlin was in the courtroom along side his wife when the jury was read. Mcgregor stated under oath that he had sex with Hand during the incident in question from 2018 but said it was consensual. Mcgregor has not fought since his TKO loss in 2021 to Dustin Poirier. It has been more than 8 years since he held a UFC title which was stripped from him for failure to defend.
McGregor took to social media to state that he plans to appeal the decision.
