Islam Makhachev reigns at UFC 311 while Merab Dvalishvili defends in spectacular fashion

All the stars were in LA for the first pay per view of 2025 as Islam Makhachev put on an absolute clinic over last minute replacement Renato Moicano who accepted the fight after having already made weight to fight Bneil Dariush.  Money Moicano was outmatched however as Makhachev used a Darce choke to secure a quick first round win.  Arman Tsarukyan who was scheduled to fight Makhachev will not need to fight his way back into contention according to Dana White, Tsarukyan pulled out of the championship fight the moring of the weigh ins.

Merab Dvalishvili spoiled coach Khabib Nurmagomedov night as he picked up a decision win over his cousin and student Usmar Nurmagomedov.  Showing extreme cardio Merab was able to pressure the fight with forward momentum and wrestling making for a fantastic bantamweight championship fight that went all 5 rounds. Two judges had the final score 3-2 while the final judge had it 4-1 in favor of Merab Dvalishvili.

Team Khabib is back to Dubai this week as Usman Nurmagomedov gets set to fight in the Road to Dubai championship series for the PFL. Usman will be challenging Paul Hughes who defeated AJ Mckee at the Battle of Giants PPV held in Riyadh Saudi Arabia.  Cyborg who was the Co Main event with Usman Nurmagomedov at UFC 300 had this to say about the fight, “I expect Usman to put on a great display of Mixed Martial Arts and show he is the complete fighter.”
