Launched in 1904 the Huntington Beach 4th of July Celebration originally commemorated the arrival of the first electric passenger train linking the town with Long Beach and Los Angeles and attracted over 50,000 people to celebrate the event. Now in it’s 118th year the Huntington Beach 4th of July Celebrations attract more than 500,000 attendees over the 5 days of event programming which includes a Block Party, Food Vendors, a Carnival, Surf City 5k, Fireworks over the ocean, and a Parade on the 4th of July.
This years Parade Cris Cyborg will serve as the Sports Grand Marshal, MLB Hall of Famer Steve Garvey will serve as Grand Marshall, Dr. Christa Glembocki Education Grand Marshall, Pai Family Community Grand Marshal, WWII Veteran Honorees Doris Zavala (who celebrates her 104th birthday Nov. 20th of this year), and Robert St. Paul who helped stop the Russian’s from advancing in Korea during WWII. Also appearing as special guest is Coast Guard Captrain Ryan Manning and Celebrity Guest Madison Baez.
Cris Cyborg earned her American Citizenship in 2016. The only Grand Slam Champion in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts, the current Bellator MMA Champion and former UFC, Invicta FC, and Strikeforce Champion; Cris Cyborg is considered by many as the greatest female combat sports athlete of all time. Active in her community and abroad, many consider the humanitarian and community service work she does outside of the cage to be her lasting legacy. As a resident of Huntington Beach since 2015 Cris Cyborg feels honored to represent the city during the annual 4th of July Parade Celebrations for 2023.
