Immediately after UFC 223 after being declared the undisputed UFC Lightweight world champion of the world, Khabib grabbed the microphone and said he wanted to face P4P great George St. Pierre in November when the UFC returns to New York.

Khabib has several options available for him in regards to future opponents. Tony Ferguson lost his Interim LW world Championship when he was unable to compete due to an injury suffered fight week. Conor McGregor officially had his second UFC belt stripped from him once Khabib had his belt placed around his waist.
MMA Super reporter Ariel Helwani reached out to GSP for a response from to which GSP said, ‘I feel UFC and Khabib got unfinished business before I try to make a step in here to go for the 155lbs title.” Khabib at the post fight presser seemed to acknowledge that it might be unlikely that GSP makes the cut all the way to lightweight saying, “To be honest, if you ask me about Georges, he don’t need to comeback. Why he need this? He’s already greatest athlete. Why will he comeback and fight, make 155? He never make 155. I don’t know.”
I asked @GeorgesStPierre what he thought of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s post-fight comments. His response:
“I feel UFC and Khabib got unfinished business before I try to make a step in here to go for the 155 title.”
