Cris Cyborg gets set to return to the cage at Bellator 300 in San Diego California on October 7th. The only MMA Grand Slam Champion in the sport after winning the Bellator MMA, UFC, Invicta FC, and Strikeforce Featherweight Championships. A Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt, Cris Cyborg most recently made switch into professional boxing and went 2-0 in the sport capturing the FMS South of Brazil Professional Boxing Championship and winning a Co Main Event headlined by P4P #1 great Terence Crawford.
Today’s fight video comes from the Bellator MMA vault as they recently released the Bellator 271 main event against Sinead Kavanagh from Nov. 12th of 2021. Kavanagh who is a former Irish National Boxing team member had won two fights in a row after a controversial loss to Leslie Smith and faced the defending Bellator MMA Champion as the main event in Miami Florida.
Cyborg who had finished Leslie Smith at Bellator 259 with .9 seconds left in the final round was expected to showcase a more controlled version of her striking in the bout after showing measured fights against Smith, Blencowe, and Budd– however the two female fighters came out and both began swinging as it was Cyborg landing the KO shot just 92 seconds into the first round securing her 3rd successful Bellator MMA Championship defense.
Cris Cyborg will be back in the cage Oct. 7th in San Diego as she faces #1 challenger Cat Zingano who is undefeated in Bellator MMA and has career KO wins over UFC Champions Amanda Nunes and Miesha Tate on her resume.
