The beef between Cris Cyborg and Claressa Shields doesn’t seem to have gotten any smaller after Cris Cyborg’s most recent victory over Larissa Pacheco at the PFL Super Fight PPV in Riyadh Saudi Arabia. While Cyborg took her 5th promotional world championship and won her 17th career World Title fight, she took time to respond to an interview Claressa Shields gave following her Feb. MMA victory in the Kingdom of Saudi.
Claressa who is a 2x Olympic Gold Medalist in Boxing, undefeated in that sport, and a 3 division undisputed champion is currently 2-1 in the sport of MMA but entering her 5th year of Mixed Martial Arts training. Cyborg who originally tried to make the fight inside of the Boxing ring ran into issues with Claressa Shields unwillingness to compromise on weight.
Cris who last fought inside the PFL cage at 145lbs, while Shields most recent boxing fight took place at 175lbs which is a 30 pound weight difference is also 10 years younger than the self proclaimed “GWOAT”. Cyborg playing with the acronym proclaimed Claressa is the “Goofiest Women of All Time” before saying that she would be willing to move up to an open weight challenge inside of the PFL cage if Claressa Shields was willing to agree to the contract.
What do you think Cyborg Nation? Now that Cris Cyborg has eliminated all the excuses about weight will be see Claressa Shields accept a fight offer? Holly Holm was able to win the UFC belt after only 4 years of MMA training, while Shields is set to enter her 5th year of MMA training.
