
Champ Cris Cyborg last fought inside of the Bellator MMA Cage in October when she defeated #1 contender Cat Zingano via 1st round KO the defend her Bellator MMA Championship and win her 16th Championship fight in her MMA Career.
Looking for a quick return, Cris Cyborg announced that she accepted an offer from PFL CEO Peter Murray to face Kayla Harrison Feb. 24th in Saudi Arabia, however Kayla later left via Free Agency and signed to fight Holly Holm at UFC 300.
Trying to stay active, Cyborg attempted to secure a matchup against Bellator MMA #1 Contender Leah McCourt as the promotion was heading to Belfast Northern Ireland which is McCourt’s hometown, however the promotion elected to make Sinead Kavanagh instead, leaving Cyborg without an opportunity to compete on her MMA Contract.
Wanting to stay active, Cris Cyborg announced that she will be returning to the sport of Professional Boxing 4.27.24 although very few other details have been released at this time. Cyborg had this to say, “I’m excited to stay active, get back into the boxing ring–as a high level athlete inactivity kills the greatest fighters. I am excited to continue my Boxing journey while my team works with PFL to secure my return to Mixed Martial Arts competition.
Cris Cyborg is currently 2-0 in professional boxing with her last win coming against Kelsey Wickstrum who was ranked #3 in the USA prior to the fight. Cyborg will be competing at 154lbs in her return to the sport of Boxing and the bout against an opponent TBA will be scheduled for 4 rounds of professional boxing with the bout serving as the main event for Green Bay Fight Night under the Rough House Promotions.
