Cris Cyborg recently ran into Claressa Shields while in Las Vegas working the Radio Row during Super Bowl weekend. Claressa who is making her return to MMA after a split decision loss to Cyborg’s training partner Abigail Montes back in 2021 against Kelsey De Santis who has a professional record of 1-2 in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts.
Shields who has WAS THE FIRST to call Cyborg out to a fight in the sport of Boxing, has refused to drop down to 147lbs to make the fight happen. Cyborg who fights at 145lbs in the sport of MMA has 21 career KO’s at that weight. While still a novice in the sport of Boxing with only 2 professional fights, Cyborg already has scored just as many KO’s in the sport of Boxing as Claressa Shields the multiple time champion.
Shields who is not known for her punching power having only 1 KO in her professional career and 10 decision victories does not want to make the 147lbs limit while Cyborg is vocal that for the fight to happen it has to take place in 8oz boxing gloves. Before any of that can happen, Shields will step into the PFL Cage Feb. 24th in Saudi Arabia as part of the PFL Vs Bellator MMA super card while Cris Cyborg will return to the sport of Boxing with a main event appearance at Green Bay Fight Night April 27th in Wisconsin.
