Cris Cyborg had already finished her training camp which included time at both the JacksonWink MMA academy in New Mexico and JL Boxing in Arizona as she prepared for her Boxing fight as the main event of Green Bay Fight Night away from her residence of Las Vegas Nevada when she received the call that her fight in Green Bay Wisconsin would no longer be happening.
Cyborg who was originally announced to fight 0-2 Widnelly Figueroa at 154lbs for a 4 round boxing fight, was then asked to move up to 160lbs middleweight for a fight against Jina Bynum who also had an 0-2 record. Cyorg accepted the last minute opponent change in an effort to save the show for the fans, agreeing to multiple opponent changes only for the promoter to finalize Bynum.
Despite the opponent having already started the required licensing and the bout receiving approval from the commission promoter Salomon Becerra informed Team Cyborg that the fight would not be promoted Saturday April 27th on The Green Bay Fight Night Boxing event being held in Green Bay Wisconsin this weekend.
Literally at the airport while receiving this news, Team Cyborg unfortunately was given no realistic option other than to return home without making the trip to Green Bay Wisconsin.
Cyborg who is the current Bellator MMA Featherweight Champion is expected to fight against PFL Champion Larissa Pacheco in a Champion Vs. Champion Mega Fight in September in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is unknown if Cyborg will return to the Boxing ring before that fight happens.
Team Cyborg is disappointed to not be making an appearance in Green Bay Wisconsin in any capacity. Fans who will no longer be traveling to Green Bay Wisconsin can contact promoter Salomon Becerra directly for any refund inquires. +1-414-377-5611, if the request is not processed there is the ability to dispute the charge directly with your bank.
