Cris Cyborg has done very few interviews following her Bellator 300 victory, she did a quick radio hit for XM and then followed up with a live MMA Weekly with Ariel Helwani however since her victory over Cat Zingano the 16x World Champion has been spending time with family and friends following her Bellator 300 performance in San Diego. Speaking with MMA reporter James Lynch of Canada Cyborg gave her thoughts on a wide range of topics in MMA.
Sharing her thoughts on the Cat Zingano fight, Cyborg said she prepared for a 5 round fight and became ill close to the bout when she contracted COVID. Spending time in the bed, she focused on watching video of Cat Zingano. The performance which was considered one of the best of Cyborg’s career came against an opponent in Cat Zingano who has a TKO victory over both Amanda Nunes and Miesha Tate and was undefeated in Bellator MMA becoming the mandatory #1 contender in the division.
Cyborg also shared her thoughts on Leah McCourt’s upset victory over UFC standout Sara McMann who is a silver medalist winner in the Olympics for Greco Wrestling and was taken down by McCourt the Judo specialist. Once McMann was on her back as it was described by Cyborg, McCourt used “Violent” GNP to finish the fight. Immediately after Cyborg’s victory over Zingano they brought McCourt into the cage to challenge the champion who said she would be willing to fight the Irish fighter in Belfast during the 2024 year.
