Cris Cyborg made history doing something that may never be accomplished in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts again, she won her 5th promotional championship belt becoming the inaugural PFL Super Fight Champion by defeating 2x PFL Tournament Champion Larissa Pacheco 4-1 after 5 rounds of non stop action.
Cyborg who is known for her aggressive forward momentum striking style put on a master class of counter striking as she cruised through the first two rounds despite two deep cuts over her eyes by utilizing range and distance in combination with her takedowns.
Completing 4 of 5 takedowns, the only round Cyborg last was the third round when Pacheco timed a kick with a well placed right hand knocking Cyborg to the floor and allowing her to take top position. Cyborg maintained the posture of Pacheco who won the round, but with limited Ground and pound from the top position.
With the victory, Cyborg who was the betting underdog for the first time in her career defeated an opponent 10 years younger in age to win her 17th world championships fight, another historic marker of her 19 year career. With two more fights on the ‘Legacy Tour’ Cyborg quickly called for an opportunity to fight in Dubai against Bellator MMA #1 contender Sara Collins who is currently 6-0 after defeated Leah McCourt as the main event of Bellator London, and riding victories over Sinead Kavanagh and Invcita FC champion Pam Sorenson.
