Cris Cyborg has been in Combat Sports for 17 years now, however when she steps into the Boxing ring Sept. 25th in her hometown of Curitiba Brazil it will be to compete as a professional in Boxing for the very first time. Despite winning every belt in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts to become the only Grand Slam Champion in MMA, Cris Cyborg still continues to train everyday as if she is the #1 contender competing for the belt for the first time.
Sept. 25th Cyborg will have her work cut out for her as she faces Simone Silva a veteran in Boxing and a pioneer of the sport for women in Brazil. After winning the National title in 2007 Simone Silva has competed internationally against some of the biggest names in Female Boxing including; Amanda Serrano, Shelley Vincent, Maricela Cornejo, and has fought for the World Championship 4 different times in her career. With nearly 300 rounds of professional boxing Simone Silva is a proven and durable opponent who is going to be a tough challenge for Cyborg’s first boxing fight.
Focused on preparing herself to the best of her abilities, Cyborg is currently training 2-3 times a day integrating weights, swimming, running, into her training schedule along with Boxing sparring, mitt training, rounds of bag training, and additional skills/drills. Even though Sept. 25th will be Cyborg’s first professional fight when she steps into the boxing ring it will be to compete for the FMS Super Welterweight Pro Boxing Championship Belt and yet another opportunity for the Bellator MMA, UFC, Invicta FC, and Strikeforce Champion to add another belt to her already impressive resume.
