Cris Cyborg’s reign of dominance continues as she put on a near perfect performance Saturday night in front of a sold out audience as the Co Main event of Bellator MMA 300 which was held in San Diego inside the Pechanga Sports Arena.
Zingano who is considered an MMA legend was riding a 4 fight win streak in Bellator MMA and was ranked as the #1 contender. The former UFC Star has notable wins over Raquel Pennington and UFC Champs Miesha Tate and Amanda Nunes on her resume. A Collegiate All American Wrestler, Cat Zingano is known for her grappling and aggressive ground and pound strikes.
Cris Cyborg showed incredible range control as Zingano struggled to find the distance by switching between her traditional Southpaw stance and an Orthodox position in an attempt to close the space between striking and grappling. Cyborg capitalized by defending the takedown attempts and punishing Zingano with power shots. 0/4 on takedown attempts, Cyborg finally sprawled on Zingano turning her to her side and forcing ref Frank Trigg to stop the fight at 4:01 of the 1st round.
With the victory Cris Cyborg officially won her 16th World Championship Fight, something no other female fighter has been able to accomplish. The only Grand Slam Champion in the sport of MMA after winning Championship belts in Bellator MMA, UFC, Invicta FC, and StrikeForce, Cyborg is currently riding a 5 year unbeaten period.
