A veteran of over 20 professional MMA fights Corey Anderson made his UFC debut on the season finale of TUF 19 in 2014 and until 2020 called the promotion home with ins over big name fighters such as Johnny Walker, Glover Teixeira, Tom Lawlor, Jan Blachowicz, PFL Tournament Champion Sean O’ Connell, and Fabio Maldonado.
Leaving the UFC in 202 after a record of 10-5 in the promotion Corey Anderson signed with Bellator MMA as a Free Agent and immediately went 3-0 with wins over Melvin Manhoef, Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov, and Ryan Bader before being far ahead on a million dollar fight against Vadim Nemkov until an accidental headbutt caused a No Contest. Losing the eventual rematch to Vadim Nemkov Corey Anderson is back in the Bellator MMA cage against former Champion Phil Davis.
Speaking with the media Anderson had this to say about his UFC experience, “When I look back at it, it was kind of like a penitentiary over there. Cellmate, Number, Whats your number? You’re known by a number, you’re not known by a name. They know your name, but unless you’re Conor McGregor, Jon Jones, someone else exciting…”As for Bellator, I’ve seen them with a kid in their second pro fight get on a card, and they deal with them the same way they deal with me when I fought for the title…Everybody gets the same treatment. It doesn’t matter if you’re selling tickets, main event, you’re a person. They’re gonna treat you like you are and everything gets handled well during fight week.”
