
A former Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman announced his retirement from the UFC. Winning the UFC Middleweight belt over the legendary Anderson Silva at UFC 162 in 2013, Chris Weidman pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the division history with the victory, however 7 months later when the rematch was inevitably secured Weidman again won. Of course the second fight would go on to be infamous for the Anderson Silva leg break during the but. Weidman would go on to defend his belt against Brazilians Lyoto Machida and Vitor Belfort.
Following the loss of the belt Chris Weidman had a tough run going 3-8 during an 11 fight streak with the UFC which included his own fractured leg against Uriah Hall in 2021. Traveling to Medellin Colombia, Chris Weidman would go on to receive Stem Cells fro BioXcellerator before making a retun to te octagon in 2023 with a decision loss to rad Tavares. A win over Bruno Silva and a dec to Eryk Anderson for 2024 ended being the final fights of his legendary career after starting his career 13-0
The All American was signed to the UFC after just 4 professional fights. Cyborg who has also traveled to BioXcellerator for stem Cell treatments had this to say about Weidman’s retirement, “Another fighter from my era who is moving on to another chapter in their life. With 2 more fights left on my PFL contract I am excited to enter retirement myself. I believe Weidman left an undeniable mark on the sport and we will see him in a UFC Hall of Fame one day.
