There was a time when Brandon Vera was considered one of the best Heavyweights in the world. After winning the WEC Heavyweight One-Night tournament as a last minute replacement with finishes over Andre Mussi and Mike Whitehead the San Diego based Filipino star went on to defeat BJJ World Champion Fabiano Scherner, American Kickboxer Justin Eilers, Brazilian Veteran Assuerio Silva and former Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir all by finishes before suffering back to back defeats o Tim Sylvia and Fabricio Werdum.
Vera eventually left the UFC after fights with Shogun Rua, Jon Jones, Randy Couture, Krzystof Soszynski, and Eliot Marshall becoming one of the first real Free Agents to leave the UFC for another promotion when he relocated to the Philippines and signed an exclusive fight agreement with One Championship in 2014.
In 8 years with the promotion Vera went on to have 7 fights going 4-3 in the promotion and having won the inaugural Heavyweight Championship belt. The 45 year old veteran ends his career 16-10 overall with 3 consecutive TKO defeats coming at the hands of Aung La N Sang, Arjan Singh Bhullar, and Amir Aliakbari.
