While a list of Bellator MMA athletes have recently taken to social media to let fans know that they are unhappy with their inability to get booked for fights since the recent acquisition by PFL including champions like Patricio Pitbull, Corey Anderson, and Patchy Mix it appears that fans can now add PFL champions to the list of athletes complaining about lack of fighting opportunities.

2x PFL Tournament welterweight champion Magomed Magomedkerimov who has spent nearly half of his professional fighting career under the PFL organization winning the welterweight tournament in 2018 and 2023 has now expressed that he no longer wishes to compete in the season format and instead desires an opportunity to terminate his contract and begin discussions with the UFC.

Scheduled to fight Jason Jackson in the February PFLX Bellator event, Magomedkerimov withdrew from his fight with an undisclosed injury and ultimately has been sidelined all of 2024 without a fight. Magomed’s last fight was a 2023 PFL Season Championship win over Sabidou Sy in Nov of 2023.

Speaking to Russia media outlet Meta Rankings, Magomedkerimov said he is “Waiting for the PFL to let me go”, “I want to test my strength in the UFC. If I can come to an agreement with the management to terminate the contract, I will talk about moving to the UFC If not, I will have another fight.” Magomedkerimov went on to say e still have a fight offer to face Bellator middleweight champion Johnny Eblen, but that his preference is to leave the organization. “At the moment, we are waiting for the situation with PFL to be resolved, after that, we will start communicating with the UFC.”

Do you think we will see other PFL fighters begin to ask for their release with the lack of fight opportunities being awarded to the top athletes?
